Everything Olde is New Again
In 1962 I first picked up a guitar and learned from my Uncle Charlie Burrell how to pick and play guitar.
His son Buzz and I learned a Phil Ochs song called "There But For Fortune" which I played incessantly for years
thereafter. Now that I am firmly into my sixth decade of life and the dawn of a new decade in the twenty first century
I've decided that I want to play those songs again that had meaning and power for me. I want to do it for myself
mostly, but I also want my grandchildren to hear the music that meant so much to me and got me to the musical point that I
am today. Will I still continue to perform at bars and pubs? My guess is that I won't be performing in these
venues as much as I once did. That's okay though. Those places where I do play, and the songs that I sing
with other "folkies" will understand I am guessing. To those who have chosen to have me perform at their venues,
thanks! To those who choose to have me perform in 2010 and beyond...thanks.
